Did you know that in Mandarin Chinese the word for butterfly is “hudie” and that the second syllable of the word means 70 years? Well, we’re pretty certain you’ll find inspiration for years in today’s luxury butterfly wedding on Santorini island, captured by Giannis Saroukos Photography at Venetsanos Winery.
The Chinese believe that butterflies are a symbol of grace, summer, and romance, as two of these delicate pupas flying together, represent everlasting love. Now imagine not two but hundreds of papillons floating gently on your ceremony, sitting on your pews and adorning everything, from your welcome table and dessert station to your wedding linen and guest gifts! Of course you cannot have your butterfly inspired I do’s go without an entire garden of rare and colorful blooms. We wished to create a truly magical palette for our bride and groom weaving in two wedding bouquets, one for the ceremony and one for the toss. For the newlywed’s banquet, we went with floral installations of massive peonies, hydrangeas, delphiniums, hyacinths, lilies, statice, garden roses, orchids and iris with lavish greenery. What would a butterfly wedding be without some incredibly romantic butterfly paper suites? Our menus and thank you notes just had to contain a bit of butterfly dust! And If you have been dreaming of something perfectly blue, check out a billowing cloud of sky-colored tulle gown, like our stunning bride’s statement-making wedding dress, sure to set your heart aflutter!
