Coming to us by way of Greece, today’s wedding inspiration takes it’s notes from the lure of rich fairy tales and mystery of secret gardens. We’re starry eyed for the bride’s dress alone, so add in a cliffside ceremony, overgrown foliage, antique heirlooms, and a crescent moon backdrop—yeah, we’re in love. Anna Roussos is the photographer behind the shoot and she gave us some insight as to the team’s inspiration:
When designing this editorial shoot with the visionary team of The12Events we had in mind how a wedding’s visual narrative follows the outlines of a fairy tale, the wondrous folkloric story that combines magic and beauty: unconventional bursts of color matched to foliage clad furnishings, delicate china and featherlike textures to bold antique clocks and ornate mirrors sparkling and chiming, black candles, an icy-hued gown to a decomposed art deco wedding cake. We wished to bring forth elements and fairytale texture and conjure an alternative world where boundaries hardly apply. After all, that is the idea of marriage: general rules hardly apply, a couple creates their own beautiful private universe, and in this sense, they can create and style their wedding as confident or as grand as they wish.

We love this beautiful perspective on wedding photography from Anna:Wedding photography is storytelling on a personal scale. As wedding photographers we not only capture but sometimes create personas, we “read” our couples, in part, by their style choices so essentially a wedding gown is never just a gown, as much as a wedding backdrop or setting is much more than pretty decor, especially because a couple’s love is immortalized in images and has a soul of its own. Some images document the story, others speak to a deeper narrative, touching on our heart’s fairytale fantasies.
And as all fairy tales go, we’ve come to a happily ever after and—The End.
